Sophia Davis is a first generation American who has dedicated her life to advocating for children because it is truly her passion. Born to Caribbean immigrants, she grew up in the small community of Pickerington, OH, and graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Speech Communication. Throughout her youth, Sophia devoted thousands of hours serving her community as a tutor, Sunday school teacher, and youth cheerleading coach. However, it was the Miss America Scholarship Program that provided her the foundation to take her passion to new heights.Due to Sophias involvement with the Miss America Scholarship Program, she has had the opportunity to work with the organizations national platform the Childrens Miracle Network, and her personal platform Americas Promise Alliance. Sophia has personally raised over $6,835 towards the Childrens Miracle network. And in 2007, Sophia helped Nationwides Childrens Hospital in Columbus, OH raise well over $8,000,000 through their annual telethon.In addition to her dedication to the Miss America Scholarship Program's national platform, Sophia's steadfast commitment to her personal platform over the past six years has lead her to become actively involved in over 100 projects directly benefiting the lives of children. In the United States, Sophia has aligned herself with nationally acclaimed organizations such as Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), and Girl Scouts of the United States as a mentor, recruiter, and keynote speaker. Internationally, Sophia has traveled to villages in both Dominica and Guatemala with Ambassadors for Children, where she helped distribute nearly $10,000 of cash and in-kind donations to over 500 children in need.In her spare time she enjoys arts and crafts, baking, and camping. However, Sophia is an ambitious woman whose goals are always set high. Currently Sophia is pursing her Masters Degree in Marketing and Communication at Franklin University. And in the future, Sophia looks forward to obtaining continuing her work as an accomplished spokesperson and advocate for service.
